Enjoying Rugby Matches in England
RUGBY - Exciting action, energetic (rabid) fans, and good parties are often heard as descriptions of rugby in England. Rugby has been played in England since the early 1800's. Some formal rules were established at Rugby school. As the sport developed, changes were made in the scoring and handling of the ball by the players. Rugby rivals football as a national sport in England. The team colors are well known and we see people wearing the rugby gear much as we observe the equivalent wearing of team clothing in the U.S. Our rugby player son and some of his teammates vacation in England some years just to attend the "important matches." Self catering is a great way for teammates to visit the rugby matches. It provides a high level of camaraderie because the property will common areas for discussion. During one of our tours through villages in the Heartland, we happened upon a rugby camp where aspiring players were being put through their paces. A most enjoyable chance event.
